With their museum space closed for renovation the Young V&A took its work out to communities during the 2021 Summer of Play. For National Play Day we were commissioned to develop the museum's existing kit and run a series of material focused workshops at a summer holiday club in Tower Hamlets.
We designed a Materials Olympics, getting children of all ages using their bodies and senses to explore the material world around them, and then seeing what they could build with a collection of material and structures provided to them. The outcomes where beautiful and creative, and allowed everyone to connect with their creative side.
