Community Communications
Communicating about your project is a key part of building your relationships. From letting people know about the project, how it is going and how they can get involved and take an active part in realising it.
Notice Boards
The first pieces of furniture we added to the space at Friendly Families were our mobile A-frame notice boards. With pin board on one side and magnetic white board on the other they could be used as information points for new families, a tool for note taking at decision making meetings, easels for the children at the stay and play sessions and display stands to share what we created in the design workshops.

Making progress visible
You can use your notice boards to communicate what you have been doing so far. Clearly communicating your progress and any collective decisions you have made is essential to ensure that everyone involved in your co-production process has a sense of agency and value. This transparency also makes your project more accessible as more people have an understanding of what is happening and how they can fit in to it and participate.
Here are the posters we created and displayed showing the collective values and ambitions for Friendly Families.
Posters
Posters and flyers are a great way to let your community know about the project and invite them in. We created this poster for our community build day inviting people to join us and transform the outside spaces. The garden design was created together at a collaborative design workshop.

Social Media Set up a presence on social media platforms to create a variety of ways your community can grow, participate and interact with each other. At Friendly Families we set up a Facebook page and WhatsApp group.
Logo and Branding
After you have decided on a name the next step is a logo so that you can start to create resources and communications for your setting. We ran a co-design workshop with families from which we generated eight potential designs. These designs were presented on the notice boards during stay and play sessions for everyone to see, discuss and eventually decide on the final design. You can find out more about the Logo and Branding workshop on our resources page.
